Okay, I have to admit, I was pretty scared to go to Cambodia. I didn’t know what I was going to experience there at that time. I was lucky enough to have my friend with me. And I am beyond happy that I got to make friends too. Most of them turn out to be nice(: so then we took the airplane and it was one of my fears. BUT I OVERCAME IT OKAY. :DD
I was very excited when we landed at Siem Reap, Cambodia. I was pretty shocked when I learned that the airport did not have any (blank). The environment in Cambodia was very rural. It was much hotter there compared to Singapore, as expected. While we were on the way to our hotel in the comfortable bus, I noticed the kind of life Cambodians live in. I realized that it was very much similar to my motherland, The Philippines. I experienced living in a village in a province before. I stayed in my grandmother’s which is a small zinc-rooftop house. It is definitely different than how we first world people live.
I was delighted to see that our hotel is at least better than any hotel that I have ever been to. It was very beautiful. The sculptures, statues and artifacts that were at the lobby and corridor depict a lot about Cambodia. After checking in in the hotel, we went to see Diana Saw. We had a talk with her that completely made me conscious and gained solicitousness towards the lives of people in the third world country. I realized that I should be very fortunate to be born and living in Singapore. Diana Saw had a good heart, she helped people. After the talk, I knew that I should do something to help those in need if I can. Diana Saw had become one of my inspirations.
Overall, the whole day was awesome and inspiring. Short journeys in the bus were all right though I think that sometimes we make too much noise that some can barely hear out tour guide speak. (:
